5 Ways to Kick-off your New Year’s Resolutions in Champaign
Whether your resolution is to give back to others more or to give back to yourself, we’ve compiled the best ways to start your 2020 off right!
1. Physical Wellness
Looking for a way to improve your physical health? Bring that bike that’s been collecting dust in your garage to Neutral Cycle, for a tune-up so you can get some exercise! Don’t have a bike yet? They also sell new bikes, or you can decide on a rental. Rentals start at $8/day. Had too many aches and pains in 2019? Schedule an appointment at BodyWork Associates, where they use massage therapy as effective and efficient relief for muscular discomfort and pain.
2. Picking Up New Hobbies
Looking for a new hobby? Here’s a couple ideas to get you started. If you are looking to try out a new tap class or get your feet wet in hip hop this new year, head over to Austin’s Sportswear to get all of the dance shoes and performance essentials you need. For those of you dreaming to become a musical prodigy this year, look no further than Corson Music, where you can buy and rent instruments, sheet music, and even take lessons!
3. Trying a New Look
Sometimes all it takes to feel like you’re getting a fresh start is to change up your look! This can be done in several different ways. Have you been looking to get some ink? Head to Flatland Tattoo for custom ink in a one-of-a-kind, clean, and comfortable environment. Not ready to take that leap? Head to G.A.S. Barbershop & Hair Salon for a new ‘do for the new year. Maybe you’re due for an eye exam – Kessler Optical has all you need to change up your look with some new prescription frames (or get rid of the old frames by trying out contact lenses!). A new look can make you feel fresh and renewed for the year to come.
4. Volunteering
Studies show that volunteering and giving back releases endorphins, which in turn gives you the opportunity to kick the new decade off with “feel good” vibes! CCP has over 20 nonprofit members. Click this link to see our #GivingTuesday list of nonprofits and read more about their missions and goals to consider where you’d like to volunteer.
5. Treating yourself!
Whether this means getting a delicious sweet treat at Pekara Bakery and taking a stroll around Downtown Champaign or going to Brainstorm Escapes with friends and coworkers to enjoy an escape room, it’s a great time of year to give yourself a pat on the back for all you’ve accomplished in 2019 and to gear-up for 2020! Between all that Downtown, Midtown, and Campustown have to offer, the opportunities to treat yourself in Champaign are endless!
From all of us at Champaign Center Partnership, we wish you a great start to the new year (and decade)! Happy 2020!
