Virtual Programming

With the Spring and Fall 2020 semesters ZOOM-ing to a digital format, the Illini Union decided to take events virtual in light of COVID-19 closures and remote learning. My work as Digital Content Specialist at a student center meant that creating a virtual community was imperative. I created a Virtual Programming landing page, where we housed any Zoom event links, fun virtual activities, features, and more. My social media marketing plan consisted of promoting Virtual Programming on @IlliniUnion and @IlliniUnionBoard (the official student programming organization) social media platforms. Programming varied from fun story templates for Instagram, virtual mind-readers, and even a virtual caricaturist! The programming kept Illini in high spirits as they were able to continue to enjoy Courtyard Café, IU Board, and other scheduled events in their living room with their computers.
